Destination: Lapland

Rovaniemi

As the official hometown of Santa Claus, Rovaniemi is the biggest city in the  Finnish Lapland where modern Nordic culture meets the rugged wilderness of the Arctic Circle. The city serves as a gateway for the world to experience high-end winter activities, from the shimmering Northern Lights to husky ride, snowmobiling, reindeer rides and of course, exploring the majestic snowy Arctic nature.

Kittila / Levi

While many recognize Kittilä as the home of the bustling Levi Ski Resort, the municipality itself is a vast Arctic expanse known for its pristine environment and industrial significance. It is a land of extremes, famously holding the record for Finland’s lowest temperature at –51.5°C and housing Europe’s largest primary gold mine.

Inari

Located in the far north of Finnish Lapland, Inari is the spiritual and cultural hub of the indigenous Sámi people. It sits on the shores of the vast Lake Inari, a sacred body of water containing over 3,000 islands, including the ancient sacrificial site of Ukko’s Rock. As the seat of the Sámi Parliament of Finland, the village is dedicated to preserving the language, reindeer herding traditions, and handicraft heritage of the North.

Kiruna

Located in the far north of Swedish Lapland, Kiruna is a city defined by its extraordinary transformation and industrial might. It is home to the world’s largest underground iron ore mine, an operation so vast that it has caused the ground beneath the original town to become unstable. In one of the most ambitious engineering feats of the modern era, the entire city center is currently being relocated three kilometers to the east. This “moving city” project includes the meticulous dismantling and reconstruction of historic landmarks, such as the iconic red wooden Kiruna Church, which was successfully moved to its new site in August 2025.

Riisitunturi National Park

a high-altitude wilderness that transforms into a surreal winter wonderland. The park is famous for a natural phenomenon called Tykky, where heavy condensation freezes onto spruce trees, encasing them in thick, white layers of “crown snow.”

These frozen giants create an alien-like landscape of glistening sculptures that stretch across the fells, making it a premier destination for landscape photographers and snowshoers.
